The largest dam in the world is the Three Gorges Dam in the Yangtze River, Sandouping, Hubei, China.
The Three Georges Dam generates 22,500 MegaWatts
Powers 60 million people
And cost about 37 Billion dollars.
It took 14 years to build (1994 - 2008)
And was built by about 40,000 workers in the The Yangtze river which is the third longest river in the world.
About 1.3 million people were displaced to build the dam. Over 100 towns and settlements were submerged and over 1,000 archaeological and historic sites were also submerged and lost to the Three Gorges dam, which is the largest concrete project on planet earth, weighing about 60 times the weight of the Eiffel tower in Paris, France.
The dam however poses risk of destroying about 360 million lives that base around the Yangtze river should the dam collapse.
We need 24 hours power supply in Afrika but do not want this type of technology. We demand for something more efficient, original and less costly and less risky.
We must look for a better source of power beyond water, petrol, wind etc that have been there, and look for something that costs less and gives much more.
The solution is there with you the Afrikan scientist. We are waiting for you.
